I was FINALLY able to get an interview scheduled. I'm sure there have been a million posts like this before but I'm unable to find them.
I have my interview literally 45 minutes after my last final. ahh. so how should I dress? I don't really want to take my final in a dress and heels or anything but if I'm going to look like a bum without dressing up like that then I certainly will.
oh and if it makes a difference we're meeting at the office where she works.
suggestions?
advice for the interview?
stories?
go!

In my opinion, wear a nice casual skirt. Wear a neutral top (w/maybe a thin sweater since it’s extremely cold nowadays). Wear flats, and keep your hair casual. Remember that the key here is color coordination. If you dress up nice and casual, you won’t be clad in uncomfortable clothes. Goodluck!

Thank you for your help Polobear :)

I had my interview, apparently they don’t bear much weight in your admissions process. They are supposed to be more for your knowledge and your chance to hear from someone with first-hand experience. They will write 2-3 paragraphs about you and submit it, but its not very analytical.

sure yea…but it is a factor. In fact, those 2 paragraph supplemental essays that you send to Vandy, they also count. So I don’t see why the 2-3 para that the interviewer writes won’t count as a semi-important factor. If the OP didn’t request an interview…it wouldn’t have hurt her, but the fact that she did shows initiative and willingness to add something more than what a soft copy of the application can provide. Even though it may not weigh as much, making a bad impression (in person) will hurt the OP. However, it is really hard to produce such a mistake since the interview is just to get a feel of how you are in person.

i really hope the interview is a factor. mine went incredibly well. i need every possible ounce of help i can get to have any chance of acceptance : /

Sorry I’m new and not quite sure of the particulars of writing on here…
Anyway I wasnt aware thant Vanderbilt had interviews? Most other schools im applying to have one. is this a strictly informational interview or is it a factor in admissions? From the other posts on this thread the interview seems to not play a factor in admission…is that more or less correct? Thanks :)

interviews are a factor (maybe not as much as your actual application). However, they do have impact and it gives you another chance to show who you really are. You know what they say about “never judge a book by its cover”. It’s something that colleges implement as a back-up plan, since they get sooo many applicants each year. Sometimes, you need to be there, right up front, to see how remarkable and ingenious they are in person.

what two supplemental essays?
