alumni interview?

I thought that Cornell didn't do interviews, but someone e-mailed me asking for an interview. Does that signify something, and should I do it?

The alumni interview is purely informational and has no effect on the admission process unless 1.) You're a borderline candidate and your interviewer writes a glowing report or 2.) You show up and are completely rude to the interviewer and get a negative review.

However....you should still do the interview :-)

As somebody who contacts applicants and actually coordinates the efforts of other alumni volunteers, I advise you to meet with the alum and try to make a good impression.

What's the worse that can happen? You learn more about yourself and Cornell. You make a potentially useful contact.

Do it! I learned a lot from my alumni I spoke with. Just make sure that you do some research on your major and school beforehand so that you don't look stupid :)

Does Cornell do interviews for international students? My friend in Vancouver got an interview from the engineering college.

If there is a CAAAN representative in the area...then it is possible.

I applied on October 12th and haven't been contacted for an alumni interview yet.
I did, however, get a call from a Cornell senior that is doing the same major I applied to and is applying to medical school, but she just asked me if I had any questions about Cornell and didn't say anything about an alumni interview.
Why haven't I gotten contacted by an alumnus for an interview yet? My area is rife with Cornell alumni.
