Alumni Interviews for ED Applicants?

Has anyone been contacted yet for an alumni interview?
Many of my friends who applied to other ivies already have, and it's making me nervous that I haven't :(.
Do alumni generally contact immediately? Do they wait until they have looked at the application first before requesting interviews?

Thanks guyzzzz

Yep. My daughter was contacted 5 days after she sent her app in. The interview is next week. She also was contacted by another RD school and had that interview a few days ago.

I did. My interview will be this Monday.

i sent in my stuff and didn’t get an interview yet. though, i think that may be because of the (probable) lack of alumni in my area.

or maybe it’s because they’re still waiting on my scores so that my application is complete. who knows. :(

Wombat. It is an area thing.

Wombat@: Yeah they still didn’t get my scores either.

They didn’t get my SAT scores yet either! And I ordered them online on the 23rd. Does your application have to be complete before you’re offered an interview?

Your supplemental application and common app need to be sent before you get an interview.

How do you know if they got your scores?

yeah I’ve already been assigned interviews at NYC area schools, I’ve already reached out to ED applicants and set up several interviews. I actually went in an picked a school and then was randomly assigned a student from that school knowing nothing about the applicant. So I can attest that the process truly is random and dependent on alumni availability. Don’t worry if you don’t get an interview, but if you do, put your best foot forward.

Just got an email for an interview today! :)

I wouldn’t worry. It’s a fairly automated system - candidates turn in their applications, they get uploaded pretty much automatically into the interviewing database, and then assigned to an alum in the area (if possible). Alums are sent an email alerting them to the candidates assigned to them, and they have until late November to turn in their report (deadline refers to ED applicants only). So maybe the alum just hasn’t gotten around to checking the system, but there’s still plenty of time, especially if you’re applying RD.

OP, you won’t necessarily get an interview. But don’t worry; you’re not at any disadvantage. Many students apply, are never interviewed, and are admitted. That’s what happened to me, and many of my friends (at Columbia).

I got an email about an interview and I replied the next day. Now it’s been three days later and the alumni hasn’t replied to me yet? My interview’s pretty soon and I really need to know the time and place in advance and not the day before the interview…

I would give it until monday, sometimes alums leave for the weekend.

So I just got contacted for an interview…I had no idea I actually was going to have one haha and I’m freaking. :P

A couple questions:

 1. Do they have your full application (common app portion, supplement, writing) available to them? have some fairly personal things in one of my essays, and I just wonder if this is something they might broach.
 2. How should I dress and is there anything specific to Columbia I should prepare for?

I just had my interview 2 hours ago. I would say it went fine.

Talked about myself. She took some notes. She talked about herself and life in Columbia. I asked questions. Then we exchanged good byes.

My son received a phone call today for an interview this weekend. I’m guessing it’s casual dress, since it’ll be at a Starbucks??

Yes, I dressed casually. Casual is fine.

does anyone know if all nyc applicants get interviews (since they’re all in the area…)
