has anyone been contacted for RD alum interviews yet? i submitted my application in the begining of december and havent received any email/phone call yet.

i got my first interview assignments on dec 31st (a 4-pack). I was hoping to set something up this week but i'm out of town on business, so i'll probably give them a call friday evening and set something up for the week of the 16th.

Or not, who knows. I do have a long time, but the sooner I get them done the better.

You could get a call for an interview basically anytime from now until mid-February. Of course, there's no guarantee you'll get one at all.

I applied ED and was deferred, there was no assinment of an interview. Are the chances of getting one for RD low? I live pretty far away from a major city, Minneapolis (5 hrs) and Fargo (2 hours), but I would be willing to drive. I know you aren't suppose to try and schedule one yourself, but I feel it would really help me. Thoughts?

i didnt get one when i applied, tho i lived in a middle of nowhere town in VA so i doubt there were any columbia grads except in DC (4hr) or newport news (4hr)

i live in a suburb of a major city; does my location increase my chances of getting an interview?

There's no action you can take to get an interview, and any action that you try to take will only p1ss off the adcoms and get you told exactly what I've said.

There are CU alums in middle-of-nowhere cities all over the country (and the world, for that matter), but if you're 2 hours from Fargo, I doubt there are that many. An alum might even try to schedule a phone interview with you. Nothing you can do; just sit tight.

Depends where. Some areas have a lot of CU alums but the flip side is that those areas also get a flood of applications. This is particularly true with the major Northeast cities.

oh ok, yea im in the northeast and live in an area where there will definitely be a ton of applicants to columbia. i guess i'll just cross my fingers and hope for an interviewer to call me.

i live in the suburbs of Philly and i got an email for an interview two days ago, i submitted part 1 of my application early november

does anyone know the interview deadline?

It's mid-to-late Feb. I could look up the exact date but I'm too lazy.

I applied RD and I was just contacted via email for an interview today, so don't worry, there's still time.

Good luck! :)

does the interview even matter?

Nope, they just waste your time and the interviewers' time conducting 10,000+ interviews for no reason.

What I was told is that it was just one more thing that they CAN take into consideration if they find themselves on the fence. The interview allows them to see how you present yourself (poise, confidence, speaking, etc)

do they contact you? or do you have to contact them?

I submitted my application in October and have yet to be issued an interview. I only live an hour from Columbia, so I'm getting kind of anxious.

The deadline is 2/14 for SEAS and 2/28 for CC. From that, I bet they're planning on giving likely letters for SEAS at least.

i applied early december and havent gotten called. but a kid from my high school who applied the night before the deadline is having an interview this week.....i dont get how that happens.i always thought they'd do the interviews in order of when they received the application, at least for the kids in the same town.
