Alumni network on East Coast?

First post on CC.....my S is seriously leaning towards Pomona and my concern is whether there's a strong alumni network on the East Coast, where we reside. Do many kids from "back east" (I cringe at that term) end up staying in Southern California because there are more Pomona connections there? Obviously, I'm looking for reassurance that there's a solid alumni network on the East Coast, so specific examples are welcome.....

There’s a very healthy alumni network in Boston. D returned after graduating last spring (unlike S who stayed after graduating from UCLA) and discovered a number of folks she knew (both her class and the class before hers) who had either returned to the area or had moved to the area. You’ll also find young alums in the major cities along the Eastern Seaboard who are either working or attending grad school, plus older alums who have settled down there because they like the area after first moving there. We’ve attended alumni events in the area (the Celtic vs. Spurs game - since the Spurs coach used to coach Pomona, an event at which President Oxtoby spoke, and admitted student receptions) and met alums of all ages.

Yes, some students find the allure of SoCal too enticing to leave, but many do move on to wherever the opportunities take them.

Pomona admits >60% outside of California… and only a smidgen from SoCal, hence you should expect lots of alumni outside CA sprinkled across the nation, and even international… afterall the College has been around since the 1880s… Decision time is fast approaching…
