anyone know about alumni quad , hows the set up & vibe?

It’s a severely old building that has a traditional dorm style set up. You have an average sized room shared with another with a desk and a bed. The rest rooms are communal and are shared by everyone in a specific section of the floor. The bathrooms do get absolutely disgusting but, they are cleaned every day. Bring sandals for the shower.

Being that you are basically at the “downtown” (it’s actually midtown but, everyone refers to it as downtown) area, you are near where everything happens on fri/sat. It is great, only if you don’t have work to do. Then it gets loud and annoying to study. With that said, if you plan on going to bars or whatever, it becomes easier to go out because you can just walk home vs. having to pay for a cab or getting on the last bus which leaves at 1:30ish.

Being that you are a transfer student (I’m assuming) I would suggest you DO NOT take early morning classes. You need to take a bus to get to your classes mostly (unless your criminal justice, in which most of your classes are at the downtown campus) and this causes problems because everyone also needs to take the bus. I’ve been late to classes because I did not plan out my schedule with the bus like I should’ve. Get anything after 10 if possible.

your right i am a transfer student, what dorm would you suggest?

i do want to live amongst other transfers but also have a good experience

All transfers are given a dorm on Alumni. The only way you are able to get a dorm uptown is if you know someone who is currently in the school and you request them as your room mate.

That being said, I prefer the dorms uptown because my classes are here. As previously said, it is nice when I do feel like going out to not have to take a cab or bus back but, having to plan your alarm clock around the bus schedule is frustrating.

Additionally, if you are living in alumni, it becomes a nuisance if you have a desire for Campus Center food (accessed with Meal Trades). Campus Center foods allow for you to get grab and go food vs. having to sit in a dining hall with food you can’t take with you. Alumni does offer grab and go food but, after a certain time and no option of what you want besides a wrap/sandwich. If you were to take the bus uptown just to go to the campus center, the whole process would likely take an hour which would be pointless.

Finally, there are much more options living uptown with the dining halls. Each dining hall is different. The quality in some are a lot better than others on certain days. By living uptown, you have an option of one of four dining halls, each serving different things (what is being served is posted on their website).

Are there built in closets in the alumni dorms?

Yeah , there are.
