<p>Hey all. When I apply to Cornell next year, I plan to get a recommendation from my crew coach. Will his status as a Cornell alum give my app a slight boost? Does it matter that he attended a different section than I plan on applying too?</p>
<p>It can’t hurt. A family friend was waitlisted when she applied a few years ago, and my uncle (a Cornell alum) wrote a recommendation for her. She was ultimately accepted…can’t say for sure that his letter was the reason why, but I’m sure it only helped her.</p>
<p>Thanks, I figured as much. I don’t expect it to guarantee me in, but as I’m projecting to be a borderline/mediocre (by Cornell’s standards) applicant, I’m going to need every little boost that I can get.</p>
