Did we all get this e-mail?

"You haven't heard from us in a while, so we thought it was about time to send you an update and just say "Howdy"."

"You haven't heard from us in a while, so we thought it was about time to send you an update and just say "Howdy"."

haha! yess
this is my favorite part:
"But it will not be an April Fools Day joke. It will be serious."
so cute!

i like their follow-up email that states their emails have nothing to do with admissions. it'd be interesting to see how many people who received the emails to apply to the alumni scholarship are indeed accepted.... anyone know this from past years?...what's the usual yield rate...just wondering.

I got one too, the say it means nothing, but I hope its a good sign.

They must have reviewed the apps for the alumni scholarship, and it doesnt make sense to waste all this time reviewing people who were rejected.

i didn't get anything...O_O paranoid

and you applied for the alumni scholarship???

yes...maybe im rejected already...sigh..

no...
maybe they're just as dumb as collegeboard
and LOST your scholarship application
...that probably didn't make you feel better
don't worry
what were your chances anyhow?? where else did you apply?? stats??
if i may so ask :D

Yeah, that follow-up pretty much gave it away I think. This "Howdy" round seems to be for Berkeley admits.

Did you guys who got that recent e-mail actually apply for the scholarship? Because I got the e-mail to apply but never did. It needs to be March 30th like now.

well, i got the big R from ucla, but got into uci, nyu, and ucsd...i was crushed about ucla cause it was my first choice...my stats?

UC GPA 3.9/4.0
SAT: (ok this part really sucks, but seeing from ucla and ucsd this year...i don't know...my friend with 2 F's got in, another one got in with this same score, and i know a guy who got in with 1340/2400 at my school, and there's plenty who got in with scores from 1750-1890) 1790

ya i applied for it
and i agree
it most DEFINITELY needs to be march 30th
iuno why im so anxious though
probably just to know i could do it i guess
its not like i really wanna go there
anything enticing and not cliche about ucb you guys would like to share??

Did you apply for the alumni scholarship

idylliwindll
i dunno what to say about the other people who got in as opposed to you
but my scores are and course load don't compare to yours
you worked hard on your essays; i did my essays the night it was due ::shame::
the only thing that i have on you is ECs
but I really don't think that's gonna wow them to their graves
just be patient :/

are we saying if we got this e-mail that we got into the school and they messed up? or its just an update?

i'm in a total dilema if this IS true
even though the BIG BLACK BOLD letters in the e-mail say it isn't
someone help :/

what were your stats lastcall?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean anything. However, Alumni scholarship applicants are likely accepted at a higher rate because they were motivated to fill out the OPTIONAL scholarship application; I assume this would be reflected in other endeavors as well.

All that being said, I think we should keep this alive and see if everyone who got that email got in...

I think it means what it says it means: The update does not reflect your decision. We all know that the alumni scholarship invitation was sent to pretty much everyone and, who knows, maybe this update was automatically sent to EVERYONE who applied for the scholarship. Don't worry, March 30th is right around the corner. Just wait a little longer...
