It's that time of the year again....or in my case, for the first time.

It's unsettling the amount of crap one accumulates here.

There's a bunch of ads for storage services around here, but I can't tell which one is the best and most competent. Any experiences?

Some are expensive (Off Campus Storage- over $200) others advertised as cheap (Manhattan mini-storage starting at $29) but I don't know which way to go.

I've heard some terrible things (about one service which is now banned at Barnard because they just lost truckloads of stuff in past years). I don't mind paying a little more, and have already budgeted to do so; I just want the simplest and safest option.

Empty boxes dropped off for me- stuff picked up on time - stored safely and delivered without much hassle.

Why would you ask alumns and not current students? I feel insulted.

Hudson is the best IMHO. Cheap and reliable.

Haha, Sorry!

For some reason I always preemptively divide the posters here into alumni and hopeful high schoolers. Hubris is a way of life (I guess it’s weird to imagine that I’m bumping into posters at Butler without knowing it).

What was your experience with the Hudson? * Tell me baby, what’s your story. *

Is Collegeboxes the awful one that you’re referring to? If not, my friend had horrible experiences with it.

College-boxes was horrible. Do not use.

I used Noah’s Ark last year. They were reliable. Four big boxes and a fridge for $160. Dunno how that compares to other companies price-wise.

Yeah I think it’s college box that was banned. I’ve only heard bad things.

Neverheard of Noah’s Ark though…How did the process go? Were drop-offs of boxes, pick up of stuff and fall drop off smooth?

It was smooth. A nice Israeli family owns it I believe. I’m actually signing up with them again right now.

Hudson was good because they have pick ups and drop offs on Amsterdam and Bway so nothing is ever too far off to move. I dont remember the pricing but it was by box size, not by weight, so I ended up putting a mini-fridge in a box along with a ton of other stuff.

The drop-off guys were super helpful too, they helped roll some boxes to my dorm even though it was an avenue away from the drop-off site. Nothing was lost or broken…All in all a good experience.

Is there a link to Noah’s Ark? I’d like to check myself…

On-screen this one looks pretty perfect. It’s a bit high (175$) but they give you material ( https://www.offcampusstorage.com/order.cfm ) and the process looks painless ([Off Campus Storage](http://www.offcampusstorage.com/how-it-works.cfm)).

I’m strongly leaning for this one but I’d like to know from people who’ve experienced it. It may be too good to be true or something.

My daughter used units at Manhattan Mini Storage for the past two summers. No problems…even taking taxis if you she had to (but she usually could talk friends with cars into helping) :).
