alumother is it Stanford or Princeton?

......................

Yes, Yes! I want to know too!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

~b.

She still has a few days to decide. My son was giving no clues as to his decision on this date three years ago, and maybe her daughter is the same way.
PS I want to know too :)

I think her D is waiting until after the Stanford Admit days, which is the end of next week. Down to the wire!

You guys are really cute. And mootmom is right.

I just finished reading the "so Beurah" thread, and was thinking that our house had the exact experience as B and son. For for audiophile and others, you all are v. lucky to be on cc at this stage. I was also thinking that everyone with rising seniors should add in to their calculations the complications of late admit days!

Here's what I mean. My D went to Princeton April Hosting and wound up loving it, despite some initial glitches with host compatibility etc. The really cool thing for her, aside from the smart students and wonderful departments, was these dance groups that they have on campus. Dance (hip hop mostly) is almost like an intramural sport, with teams, and I think she could really see herself getting involved there. Also the newspapers kids impressed her, and like I said, the professors in the departments were open and engaging.

However, Stanford has their admit weekend starting this Thursday!!! (Using the Berurah patented exclamation mark, beginner level....). She says she is open to having Stanford change her mind.

So my task this week is to call both admissions offices, see when they have to have that card, and figure the logistics of this out. Probably she wil have to commit before admit weekend is over Saturday morning.

I never, ever, factored this stuff into my vision of the process. And the funny thing is, I have been thinking of posting a thread saying "The biggest decision of her life to date hangs in the wind..." while she is spending her time doing the school play and studying for APs and WE DON'T EVEN TALK ABOUT COLLEGE!!!!

Thanks for asking. I really appreciate it. I know we are very lucky to have this choice but man-oh-man. I don't know what color I will use for my She Decided post. What best symbolizes relief? Relief at the chance to finally turn off the adrenalin and the constant low-level effort to suppress the adrenalin around the D.

alum...hope you have a maintenance plan!! lolololol If not, temper your enthusiasm! ;) ~b.

alumother - I really don't think she will have to commit before admit weekend is over. My son was in the same boat three years ago between H and S, and the Harvard admit program was AFTER the Stanford one. We went to the first two days of the S program and the last 2 days of the H one (flying directly from one to the other). I think if you call S and P and tell them the situation and ask if you can verbally convey her decision by the deadline they are supposed to have the mailed reply, they will say it is fine. That's what we did with the two schools - remember, they both really want your D to pick them and they will bend over backwards to be very accomodating to you at this stage. She doesn't need the extra pressure of having to decide in the middle of the S program without having a chance to step back for a day to mull it over. Just my two cents :)

MOT that is really good news. I wouldn't have thought to ask for dispensation like that. Thank you.

Alumother I had been wondering about d's decision also. Well at least you know that she loved P so no matter what happens at the other she'll be thrilled! Cool about the dancing. We'll be waiting to hear!

Won't it be either Tiger orange and brown - or - Cardinal red?

jmmom - FYI,
It's ORANGE and BLACK !!!
(This is the first time I have tried the color code, so I hope it worked :) )

Yes, MOT, it worked great. And yeah, orange and brown would be too tasteful...What ever made them pick Halloween colors anyway?

As May 1 is Sunday, I believe that most colleges have extended the reply date to May 2. I am quite sure that Stanford extended it. I am not sure about Princeton.

S went down to the wire last year too and got pretty grouchy that last week (unusual for him, too) when I would innocently inquire if he had made up his mind. It's stressful for them. Good luck!

Don't they just have to be postmarked by May 2? I'm sure a phone call or fax would work too!

Good luck--can't go wrong with either choice!

We will be calling Monday to figure this out and will post the info for all. Thanks.

Alumother, it is true that dance is a very mainstream and visible activity at Princeton, with groups doing multiple shows to sold-out houses. These groups have tremendous company spirit. Is that what you meant when you said they were like teams? They aren't teams, though; although there is some unofficial friendly competition and auditions for some of them is very competitive, members of each of the group go to performances of the other groups, and there are mutual congratulations and much hugging. They sometimes perform in one another's shows and got together this year and did a fundraiser for Darfur.

Most important, though: it is not mostly hip hop. There is definitely great hip hop. There is also jazz, lyrical, pointe, modern, Indian, Latin, Middle Eastern, ballroom, etc. Some companies specialize in one type; others are eclectic.

Alumother,
What color is relief? I say post in Pepto Bismol Pink!! no idea how to do the colors....no time to learn....but, laughing about how it is all down to the wire.....I can't wait to see which she chooses also.... keeping my fingers crossed for one....

speaking of Halloween colors....my son has a friend at princeton, his mom is a fanatic about halloween....she does the dry ice for smoke for the trick or treaters....she has a set of pumpkin carving tools that roll up in a chamois bag....I think she got them from Williams Sonoma?? anyway, I always thought it was karma that her son was at Princeton so she can flesh out her wardrobe in her favorite holiday colors!!

definitely wishing you, the mom, infinite patience and peace with her final choice....
