alumother is it Stanford or Princeton?

I've always assumed it's because they are the Tigers --> sort of tigerish colors.

Princeton was settled in the late 17th century as "Prince Town" -- in honor of Prince William of Orange and Nassau. The university was originally called the College of NJ, but then it took the name of the town. So, historically the progression was from William of Orange to the colors orange and black, and then to the Tigers. http://alumni.princeton.edu/~ptoniana/tiger.asp

That, from the "more than you wanted to know about penguins" department. ;)

aparent - you are a veritable font of knowledge, useful (dance) and silly but good to know(black and orange). I never knew that about the colors.

maineparent - thanks for the support. She should be calling the admissions offices today to check on the deadlines. We will see. I am expecting the lunch time phone call - Mom, I can't do it, can you? We will see. Can you tell my patience is stretched somewhat thinner than optimal?

lolol Are you sure you don't have one of mine over there???? lol ~b.

Ha, we've all heard that one.

Alumother, if your d does go, they offer an interesting historic tour for visitors (as opposed to hs families). I had always wondered how Nassau Hall got its name, since it didn't remind me of the Bahamas. ;)
