Am I a first generation or not?

I'm curious about whether or not I'm first generation because my aunts, uncles, and father went to college in the United States but they came from Vietnam. My father only lived in the U.S. for around a year or so and then went straight to college. Does this mean I'm a first generation college student seeing as how my father was born outside the U.S. or does it not apply. Plus, I have a cousin who goes to college right now and was born in the U.S, does that apply also? Thanks.

It's generally only parents and grandparents, in it applies to all colleges, not just those in the U.S.

Oh, so I guess not :(.

Your cousin doesn't matter, but since you father went to college (anywhere), you are not first gen to go to college.
