<p>I come from a single parent household and while filling out my appications for college I have noticed questions about first generation students. My mother went to a 2 year college and has an associates degree. Does that mean I am not a first generation? I was a little confused since she did not go to a four year college.</p>
<p>It depends on the school. The common application doesn’t ask this question. It asks what level of education your parents attained and then the college decides if you qualify as a first gen. That being said, being first gen is generally only a tip factor in admission.</p>
