Am I a good applicant for top tier schools?

I’m going to disagree a little with CC conventional wisdom. Many top stat students want to be challenged by the best and brightest student body and faculty to push themselves to get even better. There are lots of high stat HS kids who attend top 25 colleges, do well in the classroom, have great research opportunities, etc. and get into some great medical schools. If you think you are one of those students, maybe you should go to a top 25 college for undergrad? One of my close friends was premed, went to Yale undergrad and Yale Medical School and he thrived in both undergrad and medical school. He is now a very successful pediatric ophthalmologist and he has told me his undergrad education absolutely prepared him well for Yale Medical School. Had he gone to the “easiest” undergrad college he could find, I’m not so sure he ends up where he has, no one knows for sure?

Some students thrive in a very competitive environment and get better, learn, develop, and grow. Also, I believe the means to an end can be just as important as the final destination. There is no hard and fast rule to any of this college admissions stuff…
