Am I a good candidate for Brown University?

I am currently a junior in high school and my dream is to attend Brown. As of now I'm undecided as far as my major goes but I know I want to pursue something in the sciences - leaning toward biology.

I am an Asian female - I was adopted though and therefore have an American family.

I am currently in the top 3% of my class... Here are the classes I have taken so far

Freshman:
World History
Algebra II Honors
Freshman English Honors
Biology
Concert Band (played euphonium)
French II
*All of these were the highest levels I could possibly take, my high school only offers two honors courses to freshmen and no AP's.

Sophomore:
AP Biology
Geometry Honors
French III
Concert Band (played euphonium)
Sophomore English Honors
US History I Honors

Junior:
Chemistry
AP US History
AP English Language and Composition
French IV Honors
Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus Honors

Senior:
I plan on taking...
-AP Literature
-AP Calculus BC
-AP Physics, Physics, or AP Chemistry
-AP French
-AP Psychology

My GPA is a 4.0 unweighted. However, I scored a 3 on the AP Bio exam, 650 on the SAT subject test in biology, and I have only taken PSATs once and I got a 183, but I plan on retaking those and taking the SAT at least twice.

Extracurriculars-
Freshman year:
Band - played euphonium

Sophomore:
Class secretary, Leo Club, Art Club, band

Junior:
Art club, Leo club, schools literary magazine, marching band on clarinet, biology lab leader, NHS, French NHS

Senior: not sure yet but will probably keep everything from junior year

Volunteering: I teach religious ️ed to second graders and volunteer at the hospital - I have volunteered since the summer before junior year at the hospital and taught religious ️ed starting sophomore year

I also received my girl scout bronze award - during middle school, but still

In elementary school I received the presidents award for academic excellence

Assuming I write a fairly decent essay and score above a 2000 on my sat and preferably above a 700 on my second sat subject test what would you say my chances are?

you have a good chance; you just need to work on those SAT’s. I’m sure you won’t have too much trouble getting that up. You should probably aim for a 2200+ though, which is doable if you study. Just keep the grades and EC’s up and focus on the SAT’s because they account for 1/3 of the college app (1/2 is transcript, rest is everything else.)

Brown is different from the other Ivies in that they look for a “different student.” Of course a student with excellent grades and test scores, but they want their students to think differently than the typical Ivy student. I’m not saying to be something you’re not, but I would definitely look to see what makes you unique and stand out. This goes for all top schools, but for Brown pay special attention to that.
