Am I a shoe in??

<p>How much of a chance do I really have at getting into the honors Medical Scholars program at FSU, or even the honors program? </p>

<p>Total of 11 AP's for high school. (3's, 4's, and 5's)
- All A's and 2 B's total. (one was a high school course offered in eighth grade and one 10th grade)
- I've maintained a rigorous academic schedule since sophomore year, but freshman year contained regular classes.
- 4.0 GPA unweighted, 4.7 weighted, top 3% of my class, will graduate summa *** laude
- ACT (31), SAT (1800), will take SAT Subject tests for American history and Chemistry (650+ at least)
- AP Scholar
- Laureate graduation award, and laureate presentation with a 5,000 page paper concerning LGBT marriage with a powerpoint (This is prestigious in my area).
- Academic Achievement awards (3 years so far), Drama department award, and various drama awards.
- President of the Drama Club, president of the Gay/Straight Alliance, school sponsored president of the International Thespian Society, historian of the Glee Club, Academic Team competitor, Key Club, and National Honor Society.
- I've volunteered over 300 hours with a kid's drama camp, at the hospital, library, and other areas as well.
- I'm a male 1st generation American with family from Cuba, and the 1st to go away to college.</p>

<p>Everything seems good except your SAT is low. I wouldn’t say your a shoe in because I personally don’t think anyone is a shoe in anywhere. Anybody could be rejected anywhere at any time and anybody could really be accepted if they apply. I’ve found that admissions seems to be a “crapshot” and some get in and some don’t.</p>

<p>agree with the above. no one is a shoe in anywhere really.
you have great stuff, and good SATs, but anything could happen. </p>

<p>also, i enjoy very much that the word between summa and laude appears to have been censored.</p>

<p>Turbulence, I laughed at that too. </p>

<p>popcharlie93, you would be a fantastic candidate if you could up that SAT a bit, or perhaps retry the ACT? Otherwise everything looks great.</p>

<p>Here is a link with more information on this program: [New</a> Honors Program Puts Scholars on Path to Medical School / September / 2009 / News Archive - FSU.com](<a href=“http://www.fsu.com/News-Archive/2009/September/New-Honors-Program-Puts-Scholars-on-Path-to-Medical-School]New”>http://www.fsu.com/News-Archive/2009/September/New-Honors-Program-Puts-Scholars-on-Path-to-Medical-School)</p>

<p>btw - it would be “shoo in” as opposed to something you would do with a foot. ;)</p>

<p>Oh, I wasn’t sure which one it was, but thank you! :)</p>
