Just received my acceptance letter, but does not indicate anywhere whether I was selected for the honors program or not. (by the way...i did fill out those two short-answer essays)
U guys who applied for Hon Pr, and got selected...how does the letter look like...Does it say, "You are classified as a Honors Freshman Student with an academic major of...?" Mine just says," You are classified as a Freshman Student..."

Please Reply, and
Thanks a lot!

I believe they just tell everyone who is at first accepted that they are a "Freshman student" only, but they'll tell us later.

Thanks Comoseva...
Could anyone else clarify what he said?

Thanks.

From the GaTech website:

How and when will I know if I've been selected for the Honors Program?

The Honors Program sends letters of invitation to students selected for the program on a rolling basis, beginning in March and continuing through early June. A substantial number of the invitations typically come after May 1, the deadline for students admitted to Georgia Tech to indicate their intention to matriculate.

How does this work with the housing requirement? Do you wait until notification before sending in your application? Honors students are required I think to live in Howell.

just put in your preference now and if you get into honors they will switch you. This is the safest way to go. You have a chance to get the housing you want if you do not get into honors. However not all honors kids were in howell. If you have a roomate preference and you get in and they don't they have to find a replacement or will be assigned one.

Also honors is strange in that its just starting out and they have not refined how they pick kids. It is a recruitment tool for oos so OOS has an easier time getting in.

I find it strange that the #2 person in our HS class who was co-enrolled at GA tech his Jr and SR years did not get an offer to honors nor did I when I was ranked in the top 5% when two others ranked lower with fewer HS honors did get in.

Like I said they are working out the kinks. The way I look at it all classes at Tech are honrs classes there are no free rides.
