Hey everyone, I was just wondering who else got those lil invite things?? It's a lil reception to meet with faculty and students in mid-April...does this mean I got in?? lol...that would be a nice surprise :) I thought NYU didn't release decisions till early April---do they just invite everyone to this thing..or only accepted people?Or only some people??? Sorry I really do not know much about this, but I really was expecting a rejection from NYU so I don't get it! Any insight would be muchhh appreciated!! THANKS :)

What exactly does the letter/postcard say? If it mentions Sunday on the Square, stern scholars, or something related to tisch, and then yes you are in. Congradulations!

I just received an invitation to attend a College of A&S Reception given on April 8th and 15th. It says it's for student and family to meet the faculty and students.
Does this mean I'm in?

Haha...that seems to be the question of the day!!! It's not Sunday on the Square...but does it still mean the same thing?? Or are they messing with us and sent it to everyone?? Is it like the other kind, like a "likely"?

I got a little postcard inviting me to visit on April 8 for the College of Arts and Sciences as well. Er...DOES that mean I'm in? (I'd like to believe so...)

April 8th is after decisions are released, so to me that means that they wouldn't bother inviting you if you were rejected...maybe I'm reading too much into it...

I hope you're right!

Me too! Hey, I'm actually gonna call NYU right now so I'll get back to you guys in a bit about it, alright?

OH GOOD IDEA, why didn't I think of that?!! Haha, THANKS :D

Ugh, I'm on hold, waiting for an available operator...

Okay, so it went something like this...

"Hi~! I'm an applicant to NYU's Arts and Sciences and I just received an invitation to visit. Is this a an indication that I've been accepted?"

"It's not a guarantee but a strong indication."

Whatever that means....I guess it's a good sign though.

Um, do we celebrate or not?

Haha...does that mean it's "likely'??

Oh well, I won't even tell you guys how bad my chances are of being accepted, I'll drop dead if I get in...don't wanna ruin ur celebration though haha

Whats up with NYU? I got a phone call last thursday inviting me to attend a weekend in April for the MLK scholars -- but I haven't even received an acceptance letter! When I asked if that meant I had been accepted the girl was silent & then said "I'm not at liberty to say, but I think you should expect good news". Has anyone else gotten a phone call? I'm starting to wonder if the call was legit ... supposedly this is for Apr 2 & 3. Anybody have any info?

OK Nicky, how bad could your stats be?

aaawww~ NickyJane18, don't be so hard on yourself! The fact that you received an invitation proves that NYU has a genuine interest in YOU! Obviously, you had something great to offer! :)

In other words, I'd say that the postcards are a way of saying "likely", like NickyJane suggested before. Particularly because the visiting sessions are marked AFTER decisions are released (...or so I continue to tell myself)

Haha, no it's not my "stats" it's just that I effed up the application really really badly, because I am a total last minute procrastinator, so I was getting like 5 apps ready at once...well, I accidentally forgot to change the heading on my common app essay and it said "Tufts University" at the top. Not to mention, the check I sent was for the wrong amount, b/c I was writing them all at once and got mixed up, I only noticed it when I saw it go through my checking account. So yeah, my app was totally messed up!!!!!! I never heard anything from NYU or got like an "application complete" postcard, so I just sort of figured they'd thrown my app away, amidst the crazy amounts of applicants and all...I told everyone that I was without a doubt rejected, so yeah, I'm surprised. It's not like my "stats" are great either, like maybe if I was a super kid they'd overlook my airheadedness, but I'm clearly not!!!

OH WELL, I heart NYU. :) Thanks for the encouragement though, that's so sweet---I hope we all get in and become friends!!!!

Maybe they thought your airheadedness was cute in a quirky sort of way ;-)

Nickyjane, what were your stats?

i got one too.. why do they play with our heads like this??
