Am i admitted or what? Columbia University

Ok,
I had an interview from Columbia on phone. (i had personal interview before this.)
The interviewer talked about a summer program; i will be staying on campus for 5 weeks taking CORE classes of Columbia. After the 5 weeks, i will be home for about 2 weeks. After that I will start my first semester in the university. O.o The air tickets will also be covered for round trip... =D So, the program is TOTALLY free.

I asked him whether i have to apply for the program or not. He said, "No, you have been selected to participate in the program." What?

I was kind of afraid to ask him about the acceptance. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Congrats, you’re in

What kind of a summer program? Did you get a likely letter?

@FraNeighbor ~ Thanks, but i really need explanation. =S
@texas ~ he said “Golden Bridge Opportunity” which i couldn’t find anywhere on internet. But they had something similar or identical program which is called “Summer Bridge Program”. I didn’t get a letter. The interviewer talked about the program before he interviewed.

I googled summer bridge and found that it is for some freshmen. May be you should ask if it means you are admitted to be clear.

I personally would ask. Ask your admissions officer and be sincere/professional about it.

Most of these Programs are intended for First-Year Admitted students.

Thanks guys i think i got accepted. I pray so hard for this… =D

It’s my understanding that Summer Bridge programs are for students in EOP/HEOP and similar programs and serve as a headstart, prep summer for college courses. Usually (not always) these kids haven’t had the opportunity at their schools for a variety of top level college prep classes so the Summer Bridge program helps bridge the gap.

I’d feel better if somewhere along the line you said something about filling out an application for admission? Also the summer program might require that you to acheive a minimum summer GPA in order to move forward. Anyway GL.

thanks everyone. i will work my best!

Congrats!
Enjoy it and work hard, it’ll serve as good prep for Columbia :)

Before you pack your bags, you may want to get something in writing.

@Jamiecakes ~ You are prob right because i come from a school where graduation rate is 32%.

@sosomenza ~ Hmm… I feel scared if they have a requirement to achieve minimum GPA. I will have to work my butt off… ^^

@Ragdolls ~ Thanks, and i am really anticipating for it. Bring it on!.. ^.^

@SoCalDad2 ~ Lord, english is my second language and it’s the hardest subject in school… XP Are you saying that I need to sharpen my writing skills before i go there?

No, what SoCaldad is trying to say is that you shouldn’t get ahead of yourself until you receive a written letter/email confirming the situation

@Ragdolls ~ haha, I don’t have anything to pack since i am poor. Anyway, thanks for the advice… ^^

I have friends here that did that same program. And by here I mean Columbia.

@Future ~ could you please ask them if they knew they were admitted before they got their official mail? Thanks for your time. =)
