I have a lot of reach schools. Am I aiming too high? Can you give me some other recommendations? Thank you so much.

What’s your weighted GPA?
Even unweighted your GPA is significantly lower than middle 50% GPA of each school you listed. also you MUST improve ACT.
Yet your EC is great.

What’s your intended major? I think you need to have more colleges with less difficulty in admission in your list

The fact that you are an Asian American is not going to help, nor are your ACT’s or GPA, however if you really play up your EC’s and write a kick-ass essay, then you stand a chance. Also, I’d recommend cutting down all the Ivys to one or two and applying ED to MIT.

DasKleins,
unless he’s a citizen, he’s not eligible for EA in MIT.
But you are definitely correct that his ethnicity won’t help, but migh~~~~~t give some tinsy disadvantage, since college know that Asians in general are great at STEM.

I’m a 17 year old female and I am a citizen of the United States. My intended major is mechanical engineering. My second choice major would be English. If mechanical engineering doesn’t work out for me, I will major in English and then go on to Law School.

Or you can aim for Georgia Tech.

With that GPA and ACT score, Duke, the Ivies, UCLA, UCB, and MIT are all going to be out of reach, especially since you’re not a US citizen. If you want a better shot, try to bump up your ACT score to at least 32.

Good luck!

I am a US citizen. Also, I definitely think you are right when it comes to bumping up my ACT score. I will be retaking the ACT in the December test.
