Am I allowed to retake a class that I got a C in?

Hi, I got a C in English 100 while I was at CSUF my first year. I transferred to a community college my second year and I want to take a equivalent class over the summer (this probably counts as retaking). I was wondering: (1) is this legal, (2) will the UCs that I’m trying to transfer to factor the second grade into my gpa, and (3) if I get a better grade but the schools I apply to don’t factor it into my gpa, will it still improve my chances of admission because I’ve shown that I can get a better grade in English?

Thank you very much!

I believe C- or lower, you can retake it. On the UC Transfer Admission Planner, it gave me options for putting in new grades to replace a few old C-'s that I had, but didn’t allow that for a C or higher.

Someone else can give you a definitive answer, but I’m fairly certain the answer no you can’t use the grade, nor will it be helpful to get a better grade.

I see, thank you very much!

However, the website of whatever school you want to go to will normally state what they allow, or if you can use academic renewal or something. Just google it and you’ll probably get find what you need. But I’m sure someone more knowledgable than I will be in shortly with more info.

Ok thank you very much!

You can’t retake a C-.

You can retake C- courses at a CCC. Unfortunately you have a C and cannot retake the course.

Thank you all!
