Am I an International or In-state applicant?

I’ve lived in California for about 7 years, attended high school here, and my parents pay CA tax. However, I’m a Canadian citizen on a H4 visa.

I thought I was an in-state applicant, but UCSC started sending me these ‘international student’ emails which prompted me to call them. They told me that I was considered in-state for admissions purposes and international for tuition purposes. Is this true for all UC campuses, and is there any evidence that clearly states this? Thanks!

I thought the CA Dream Act applied to cases like yours too. I’d look into how to document your status accordingly.

Good luck.
