am i at a disadvantage--havent taken math yet

I only need to take one math class (for igetc, not for my major) but I put it off so long...I am applying this semester. I will not have any math class done by the time I apply, but I will be doing and completing it during the spring before I transfer...can this affect me negatively? or will it not matter because the only math i need isnt even a pre-req for my major?

No. As long as you get it done before transferring.

Me, too. I’m taking it next semester. I haven’t even done my English classes either, but I’ll be done with those in summer.

Yes, as long as the courses are not part of your major prerequisites, you’ll be fine. I haven’t taken my sophomore level math course either.

Good to know that they don’t penalize you for not completing math/english before the fall prior to transferring.

if you are trying to do a TAG program…you need to have your math and your english done by this fall… Overall it looks better to have it done by fall…thats what my counselor says… So I am getting that **** DONE!

If you’re applying for a competitive program or to a competitive school, the person who has gotten their act together and prioritized the most rudimentary and fundamental subject matter is going to outshine you. At the same time, finishing math and english by the fall semester when applying is only suggested, but not required. So all in all, if its suggested and you’re worried about your chances, don’t fool yourself with optimistic assumptions. Just take the damn class.

I’ve been told that it looks better to have your major prerequisites completed by the fall prior to transfer. But if your major is competitive, I would imagine it would be better to have as many classes completed by the fall prior to transfer as possible. But… if you’re not applying to a competitive program, I don’t think it will make a big difference.

My counselor said I didn’t need to have it done this possible. She said just focus on getting 60 units.
