Am I being paranoid?

I am a science major at Georgetown University, hoping to use my degree to either go on to research, then graduate school in some field of biology, hoping for it to lead me into health policy, research, or possibly something even business related.

I am just a bit paranoid because after receiving an A- in Gen chem 1, I recieved a B in Gen Chem 2, but then an A- in Orgo 1. Will that inconsistency hurt me a lot, since I am a science major? This fall I will also be beginning on-campus research in our cancer center.

Also, since my career interests vary, is it generally better to minor in something like a foreign language, or will i benefit more from filling my schedule with other varying classes that will help me become more well-rounded, like taking some business classes or international affairs classes?

Thanks so much. All help is appreciated!

Yes, you are over-anxious. Your grades are fine. Major in whatever you like and do well in. If you’re interested in policy after graduation, the MPH degree might be a better route for you.

I imagine Georgetown has a strong MPH. It is the best gov. school…except maybe Harvard JFK.

If you’re going to freak out over every little thing and are undecided abotu your career choices, I would put off graduate school. You need to learn to go with the flow and realize that grades do matter but research coutns for far more.

Don’t waste your time with a foreign language unless you actually enjoy learning it. I double majored hebrew. Oops

Thanks so much for your advice and help
