So I have written my Common App essay and the supplement for the School I am ED'ing to (Wharton). In both of these essays I reference my main EC, albeit briefly. The EC is a paid writing position at a large online finance website (think Yahoo Finance, Google Finance, Forbes, Seeking Alpha, Motly Fool, The Street). The reason I reference this EC so heavily is because I have been told it will be a major hook. Would it be repetitive if I write my Common App extracurricular statement about this EC?

Do you have a section for ECs seperate from the main essay? If so, write on something else (I think). If not, reference it. Since it is the Common App essay I don’t think anyone would see that is repetitive, so I don’t think you have much to worry about on that front.

If you’re writing about it in the “explain one of your ECs” section, than I wouldn’t write about it in the essay. The adcoms will be able to understand how important it is to you as long as your writing is genuine. If it’s just mentioned in passing in the essay than it’s no big deal, but I wouldn’t do anything more than that.

In my common app essay I reference it in one line as part of the resolution of the essay, and in my Supplemental essay I give it 2-3 lines to demonstrate my passion for what I will be studying in college.

I’d save it for the supplemental essay and change your common app essay a bit so that it’s not used in both.
