Am I being too paranoid?

In 8th grade, I was pretty dang stupid.

I thought it would be super funny if I took an empty beer bottle, put some cider in it, and sent a snapchat to a few of my friends with my drinking from it.

Cringe/laugh all you want, but recently I have been sort of worried if it could be anonymously sent to colleges I apply to. The snap was screenshotted of course. I go to a high school in California, so everyone knows that we all apply to UCs. My friends occasionally send this photo in our group chat once in a while just as a joke, but it looks very real and incriminating. I have no idea where it has spread to, since my friends tend to joke around a lot.

I have asked my friends to stop sending it places, but who knows what damage has been done, as a few of them I faded from/am not on good terms with right now.

Am I being too paranoid? Do admission officers even care as long as my social media profiles/disciplinary record is spotless?

Yes you are. Chances that an admission officer will somehow see this are .000000001% and then the chance that they will know it is you is even slimmer. IF they were to somehow get to that point, the chances of them doing anything are pretty small. It was 8th grade. You’ve obviously matured and you’ll be fine. Relax and enjoy senior year!

You are being too paranoid. A college honestly wouldn’t care even if it was real and came into their hands somehow. And it sounds like you’ve learned the lesson about compromising photos in a pretty painless way.

I agree with the above.

However, use it as a learning opportunity. Even with snapchat, anything you post on line can be passed to anyone.

No dude. No one cares. Even if it was real beer, no one would care. You’re fine.
