Am I being unrealistic? (Average Student)

With all the semi-genious on this board I am a bit uncomfortable at my chances at the following schools:

Super-Reach: University of Michigan
Reach: Ohio State
Match: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (Resident of IL)
Safety: Purdue University

Stats:
GPA: 3.62 (Not out of 4.0, but at the same time the school doesn't have a weighted or unweighted)
Class Rank: Around 87/440 (About 20%)
ACT: 29 (E: 27 / M: 23 / Reading: 35 / Science: 31)
EC: A few clubs/sports here and there, no major leadership rolls, do a few things out side of school.

Looking to roll around with Political Science at first, but really not sure what I want to do.

The ACT seems very do-able and the gpa seems pretty good...

Not really, you have a chance at all of those schools. Apply to UMich early as they have rolling decisions if that is your top choice.

Ah cool, thanks a lot for the replies so far, guess I didn't give myself enoughf credit. Ppl on this site are extremely smart.

I checked Michigan for you and it says the middle 50% of students got 26 - 31 on the ACT (on collegeboard, not the actual mich site which could be a little more updated or different) so you -don't- give yourself enough credit. GL!

No, you are being pretty realistic.

ohio state is not nearly as good of a school as either UIUC or purdue.

If we are talking about the Ohio State University: Columbus Campus vs. Purdue then from what I see as the SAT scores Ohio State IS better

Middle 50% for SATs (1600 scale) according to CollegeBoard

Purdue: 1030-1260
Percent applicants admitted: 85%

Ohio State University: Columbus Campus: 1080-1300
Percent applicants admitted: 74%

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign: 1170-1400
Percent applicants admitted: 75%

So ya...

If you look at these stats and u either think that they are too good or too bad, just remember 25% percent of students are worse than those stats and then 25% are better.

I think you have a high chance of getting accepted into any of those schools, hope everything turns out well for you.

I wouldn't consider UMich to be super-reach at all, a friend of mine got in with about the same stats last year (slightly higher GPA, slightly lower ACT).

For some reason I guess I figured my GPA was a crippling factor. And the reason I have Ohio State has a reach, was because I figured the chances were about the same there as U of I, but its OOS.

You are a match/safety at OSU.
