Am I being unrealistic? Has anyone gone up like 5-7 points?

Uggh it really sucks I have a great gpa, and I'm in a lot of activities etc..
but I got my ACT score and it was a is ashamed 23. Yeah...
25 english 22 math and science and 23 reading 10 writing

It was my first time taking it and with very little preparation, so is this goal unrealistic?

second time goal, 27/28
third time goal, 30

has anyone improved like this, and what do you guys all suggest I do to accomplish the goals I set?

thanks everyone, standardized testing is just..ugh =(
i have the red book, are there any other good books I should get?

i got a 24 my freshman year and hopefully will go up by 10 points in my junior year lol

btw, dont lose the hope. Remember quality not quantity. Pay attention in school and that should suffice. If not, study study study until you reach your goal.

I've looked at the Princeton Review ACT prep and i think it's pretty good. By the way, I have great school grades and lots of activities, but i don't get great scores either. Just keep practicing

well i can give you some hope...i went from a 28 to a 34...and yea i took with little prep so for the second time i just went all out with the studying and was pleasantly surprised by my score lol

First time with little prep in Feb 07 I recieved a 27...
April 07 I recieved a 29...prep
June 07 I recieved a 29...prep
Sept 07 I recieved a 31...little prep
Oct 07 I recieved a 31...little prep
Feb 08 I recieved a 32...no prep at all

So, in short, it is definately possible, just be patient, and don't get discouraged if you don't get it right away; you will get what you want one day. I am still shooting for the 33, just making my way there slowly :)

Good luck!

the thing is, I'm a junior, so I only have 3 more shots at the ACT max.

=(

woah, taking the act SIX times? isn't that a little extreme? thats a full 24 hours out of your life, for a dumb exam.

I don't think it really matters. It's something I want to do well on...what's wrong with that? Many people at my school have taken it that many times or more.

what do you mean only 3, i think you have more...there is one after the summer is over and that is a couple month of really good studying time. i just started studying for the act taking it in june and next october or sept or whenever the first one is.

It is possible, you just have to devote a lot of time for prepping.
Here's how I've improved:

Freshman year: 21
Sophomore Year: 22
September 2007: 23
December 2007: 25
February 2008: 27

My goal from the start has been 30+.
