also how do my chances compare for being admited in the fall to the spring

I know that Berkeley has a heart when it comes to personal statements (unlike UCLA) and that really might help you. But the GPA is a little lower then it should be… the EC’s are helpful but not as much as you would like. But to answer your question, I really don’t think the ACT score will by pass the GPA. But like I said, they are people who have feelings so if your personal statement was good, you never know…

PS. I don’t mean this in a rude way or anything but schools don’t accept people based on ethnicity, gender, or religion (its illegal…)

Yes, the low GPA hurts you a lot. Personal statement might help, but the ACT doesn’t really cover up that GPA.

The instate will help you a lot. The minority will also help you a lot.

It all depends. You aren’t out of the running though.

lol 52k a year low income?

52k is relatively low.

I think you are a strong candidate for Cal. It’s just my personal observation, but I believe Cal looks for all the stats and EC’s plus something special. Your gpa is only a touch low, your ACT is very strong and your having managed to get the grades in lots of tough classes and become league discus champ while being primary caretaker (if I understand correctly) does constitute having it all plus the something special. I don’t think having a heart has anything to do with it–one needn’t be especially sensitive to recognize the hard work and strength of character involved in being a caretaker (assuming this was long-term), not to mention as a high school kid. I can’t speak to any differential between fall and spring. Good luck!

oh ya i guess it is… my family’s income is like 31k a year.
i forget the majority of the kids on this site are on the wealthier side lol…
