Am I better off applying to USC undeclared or applying straight into Annenberg?

I'm not entirely sure what I want to major in yet, but I'm leaning towards communications and would almost certainly want to be doing something within Annenberg eventually. Do I have a better chance if I apply straight into Annenberg?

Here's some info about me:

Will have taken 7 APs and 1 honors

EC:

thanks!

Apply to Annenberg. You have almost the same profile as I did when I applied there, which puts you in a pretty good position to get a scholarship.

Thanks @Quixotism
If you don’t mind my asking, did you get a scholarship to Annenberg?

@rjk766

I did. Just apply before December 1st and write good essays.

@Quixotism that’s great! Did you declare communications/journalism on the common app or do you have to indicate interest in annenberg some other way?

Yep. You just declare it on the Common App. Annenberg is one of the USC professional schools, so you’ll have to submit an additional essay explaining your interest in comm/journalism. I applied as a journalism major, for the record. The statement is not very difficult and shouldn’t take much time. I’m also in the Cinema school and trust me, that one is a bit of a nightmare.

Are scholarships only based on grades/sat scores? Or do they also consider essays

They’re based on everything you submit.
