Am I bringing too little with me to college?

So I will be a freshman in college this fall, and I move in on wednesday. All of my friends talk about filling their SUVs and vans with a ton of stuff when moving to college, yet all the stuff I packed can fit into my parents' civic... Im taking with me 2 suitcases of clothes and 2 crates filled with other stuff, and a tv (my roommates bringing a microwave and mini fridge so i dont need those). Am i not taking enough with me to college? Because I seriously cant think of anything else I really feel like bringing, yet all my friends say they are filling up tons of suitcases with stuff, so I dont want to feel like im not bringing anything I should be...
Stuff Im taking with me:
clothes
tv
hangars for clothes
mattress pad
xbox
games for xbox
laptop
iron
backpack
bathroom necessities
bathroom sandals
a few books
power strip
bedsheets, anything else I would put on a bed
plates, bowls, cups
I figured I would buy any furniture or any chairs at the university
Is there anything else I should be bringing or is this enough?

I’m pretty sure most people overpack. What you listed looks fine to me, although you only listed items and not actual quantities.

Like you said, though, you can always buy things at the university, plus your parents can send things from home.

Yes, one persons list of clothes could fill a civic and another’s could fill a U haul :)

Do you have laundry detergent and hamper/bag? Desk lamp? Any sports equipment(tennis racket, running shoes, etc?).

How about a box of medicines and band aids? My son did not take much more than you listed although he did take a guitar. I think in general girls take more things like photos, posters, pillows, and more clothes. Guys stick to the basics.

You’re taking more stuff than I did when I was a freshman =D

Relax. If you find you need something, you can always buy it there, have your parents send it to you, or just do without. It’s not a big deal.

Don’t forget sandals for the showers

Ok, thanks everyone, I feel better about what I packed now!

And I did pack medicine, desk lamp, and bathroom sandals, but I was debating on taking my tennis racket or not

Take the raquet. Sounds like a reasonable amount of stuff. You don’t want a room filled with clutter. Like you said, you can add later.

swimsuit
goggles
sleeping bag for overnight guests
tower fan
umbrella

raincoat, depending on climate, so you can walk around campus
photos of friends, family
always better to start light and figure out what you really need!
I moved in driving a VW bug!

I say you’re underpacked. But the less stuff you bring the more “organized” your room will look.

You need actual school supplies -paper, pens, binders, folders, stapler, post it notes, etc.

I’m pretty sure you can easily get by with pencil and paper.
