Am I competitive for AEM program

I just visited Cornell, and I loved it. I'm applying RD and I have an interest in business/law. I would be happy to get into the AEM program in CALS, or ILR. I'm planning on applying to them as my primary/alternate choices. I heard that the AEM program accepts only 90 out of 1400 applicants, so I want to know if my stats are competitive:
Stats: 94 GPA at competitive NYS Public HS
SAT m/cr/w:770/710/800 SATII: mathii/us/bio: 760/730/730
EC's: -DECA Regional President, National Finalist -Model UN Chair Officer, Outstanding Delegate -Varsity Tennis Team Captain -Mock Trial Team Captain -Interning at NYS Senator's Office
APs: Lang (5) US (5) Bio (5) European History (5) Micreconomics (4) Macroeconomics (4)

How should I apply to give me the best chance of getting into Cornell:
A) AEM primary, ILR Alternate
B) Just AEM primary or Just ILR Primary
C) ILR Primary, AEM Alternate

You are definitely competitive. I would do AEM primary and ILR alternate because you’re more interested in that. Make sure you show a definite interest in business and you have a good shot.

AEM definitely accepts more than 90 out of 1400 applicants, but its acceptance rate is somewhere between 11-15% from year to year.

you are competitive, and you are from new york which helps. your EC’s show your interest in business, so make sure you get good recs and write a good essay.

Are either of you in the AEM program? If so I was wondering what most AEM students do after graduating? Do they get into top business schools? Get jobs?

yes, im a rising sophomore.

most AEM students get jobs after graduation. 9% to go grad schools. this sums it up nicely if you scroll down:

Do any go on to law schools? Since that’s still an interest I have in the future…

when the professor asked our freshmen class last year, something like 1/4 - 1/3 of the class raised their hand for possible law school in the future.

I’m class of 2014. Right now I’m thinking about investment banking and an MBA later if I need one.

So is Dyson School separate from CALS or is it still a part of that college?

The “Dyson School” is a current name for the AEM major. It is a part of CALS and not separate from the college.

When I talked to the admissions rep at the Cornell infosession he said that AEM was one of the most selective programs on campus…

If I put AEM (CALS) as my first choice school and ILR as my second choice, would I run the risk of being put into ILR since it seems to be less competitive than AEM?

it is one of the most selective programs on campus. i think the two years before this past school year, it was THE most selective at around 10-12%. i dont know about this past year though (incoming freshmen); they were 14.5%.

anyway, no one knows for sure what putting a second choice would do to your chances. most of the students i know from AEM seem to be either ED or RD with AEM as their only choice, but there ARE some students who put second choice colleges. in the end, i think the “second choice” is there for the admission officers to determine if youre a better fit for the first choice or second choice. and i dont know that many students who are in their second choice college.

so yes, there is always that risk. when i applied, i decided to do “all or nothing,” but that was also because i didnt know much about ILR. if you want to go to cornell, put ILR as your second choice. it is still a GREAT program.

Does anyone know if Cornell offers opportunities for applicants to stay with an AEM student and attend classes for a day? I recently got an e-mail about ILR’s hosting program…and I was wondering if AEM, within CALS, does the same thing?
