On the MIT admissions page it says that those who are not US citizens or permanent residents (green card holders) are considered international applicants. I have a green card but am studying abroad. Would I be considered an international applicant?

It doesn't matter where you study or where you live -- US citizens or permanent residents are considered in the domestic pool.

Actually, thats not true. For Cornell, your status (domestic/international) depends on where you study and not your citizenship.

I might have misunderstood your post. Were you talking about only MIT, or all colleges?

As Mollie says, for MIT Admissions if you have a green card you would be considered in the domestic pool, regardless of where you are living at the time. Other schools might have different policies.

In fact for every applicant at MIT, your citizenship is what matters, not your physical location.

Yeah, I was talking about MIT admissions. I don't know anything about anything else. :)
