Am I considered to be an international applicant?

I am a US citizen who has been living abroad for the past 14 years. I was under the impression that colleges would not consider me to be an international applicant. However, this doesn't seem to be the case at one of the colleges I was accepted to--they sent my acceptance early, at the same time they sent their international decisions, and just emailed me addressing me as an international applicant.

I am wondering if most colleges will consider me to be international. This worries me a little because colleges often have quotas for how many international students they admit, and the international acceptance rate is considerably lower than the normal one.

What do you think?

US citizen =/= international. Period.

US citizens attending schools abroad are evaluated on the strength of their own curriculum (ie., if you’re in the UK, they’ll look for A*-B grades since it wouldn’t make sense to look at how many honors and AP classes you took) but there are no “quotas” or anything of the sort, and they’re treated as citizens for financial aid.

Thank you so much! That’s a relief.
