Am I crazy for taking this many APs?

5 Aps next year (senior year) with a double curriculum in english and hebrew meaning I leave school at 530 everyday and come in at 730.

-AP calc
-Ap stats
-Ap English
-Ap Physics C mechanics
-Ap gov

No one in my school was ever done this much but granted my school sends someone to the ivys only once every 5 years.

Nah go for it it’s actually really fun at the end of year when you have nothing to do after the exams haha. I took 5 and I don’t regret it, take advantage of the free knowledge your given in highschool that you have to pay for in college.

That is a very normal amount of AP classes. I got stuck taking 5 my senior year. I wanted to take 7, but scheduling conflicts made that impossible. In my mind, the more AP tests, the better.

Nope, I am also taking 5 my junior year

As a freshman taking AP Human Geography… I’d say DANG… And feel you had no life, etc.

As a graduated senior, not too shabby. But you can increase the insanity (if you need to).

But its on you! Have fun! Heheheh an incoming senior is doing 10 APs, and saved some of the hardest for last. My time is up dealing with this (a TON of it is pointless busywork to make the difficulty seem like its AP when learning the material isn’t really that tough).

No your not crazy but it will be difficult. I have met people that have taken nothing but AP classes their senior year.

You’re not crazy, just respectably ambitious. With enough work you’ll do very well.

Here’s my senior year course load:
-AP Calc BC
-AP USH
-AP Physics C
-AP Chem/Bio
-AP Lit possibly but I’m not sure if I can take it without having not taken AP Lang.

Is this too ambitious for senior year? I’ve never taken a single AP class until my Junior year and I don’t really have many extracurricular achievements, so academics is all I’ve got. What do you guys think about a schedule like that?

@acdunk: As long as you’re truly interested in learning the subjects, it isn’t too ambitious. AP Chem can get tough and I heard AP Physics is really hard. I’m taking at least five or six APs next year, which is more than I did in my junior year, so it should be manageable.

I know someone who did 10 in a year. Don’t worry, he’s still alive.

Woah that’s crazy! Is it normal for high schoolers in America to take 5 APs a year? O_o Even the smartest kids in my school only take 4, max, and the school always send some people to Ivies every year…

@corsairre: for junior and senior year it is, at least at my school. And my school isn’t some top notch place either. Just a regular public school.
For example, next year (junior year) I’ll be taking:
AP English Language
AP Spanish Language
AP Psychology
AP Chemistry
AP US History

Then senior year, I, like many others will take and have taken:
AP Calc AB
AP English Lit
AP Spanish Lit
AP Macro/AP USGov (sem1/sem2)
AP Physics C

I took 6 Senior year with two self studied. Your schedule is fine.

Wow…are you expecting 5s for all?

I took 4 (5 if you count micro and macro separately) senior year, as well as marching band, and I’m still here… So I think you’ll be fine.

I’m taking 6 next year and another 6 Senior year. I’m also considering self-studying for some exams. I actually ran out of APs to take, so no, 5 APs does not mean you’re crazy.

I took two sophomore year, 7 junior year, and another 7 next year. It’s doable. The best thing I can say is to learn where/when to just BS work, and when to put your full effort.

@corsairre, I took Psychology (self-study), Art History, Calc BC, Eng Lit, US Gov (self-study), and Microecon. I’m expecting 5’s in all except Art History (hopefully a 4).

One of my friends took THIRTEEN APs. THIRTEEN.
He took:
English Composition
Calc AB
Psych
Micro
Macro
Comp Sci
Psych C
Physics
APUSH
Statistics
Bio
Chem
and Gov

He took 6 AP classes and self-study the rest.
Surprisingly, he survived and I think he got 4 & 5 on all of them.

Sighhh the things people would do to get into harvard…

I’ve taken and am getting AP national scholar my junior year for:
spanish language
psychology
micro
macro
calc BC
physics b
english languge
APUSH
bio
env. sci.

and am taking AP Music theory, Physics C, Literature, World and Chem next year (senior year), not to mention I have multivariate calculus and huge extra curriculars.

Truthfully, I really don’t know why most students want to load up on huge number of AP’s every single year…
