I worked so hard to get into UCSD from out of state as a computer science major. Then my major got turned all upside down and now I want to do Business/Hotel Management so I am transferring to SDSU. However I keep having second thoughts seeing as UCSD has so much more prestige, am I crazy?

Did you already transfer?

I havn't trasnferred yet, but I am going to Mesa CC to finish the GE pattern and then I have the TSD to guarentee me admissions to SDSU, but UCSD said I could always come back if I wanted

Did you like UCSD?

Go where the major you want is offered. Maybe a slightly more prestigious school that has your major other than SDSU would be more of a match for you.

I agree with mexbruin... if you were able to get into UCSD you might be able to transfer to a better school from Mesa than SDSU that offers your major.... but if you want to stay in San Diego then SDSU isn't bad either.

I just don't really see where i could go that is more prestigious than SDSU for Business and Hotel Managment. Let me back that up with the fact that I really don't want to leave southern california and from what I've heard SDSU is the #2 business school in CA behind UCB. I think I am getting more comfortable with my decision, its just a shock to my system because I didn't see any of this coming when I moved out here.

SDSU is most definitely not the #2 business program in California: Berkeley #3, USC #9, Santa Clara #57, SDSU #68, CSU LA #104, Cal Poly SLO #104, Loyola Marymount #120, SJSU #120, USF #120. If you were good enough to get into UCSD out of state, then you definitely should have gotten into USC, so yes you are crazy to transfer to UCSD. If your only choices at this point are UCSD and SDSU, I would major in something close to business at UCSD like Management Science, which has classes taught by the same faculty that teach MBA classes.
