So, I'm a rising Junior, and I just finished AP US History in my Sophomore year, which is the only AP available to Sophomores, so it was my first.

I took the Exam in May just like everybody else. Prior to receiving my score a few days ago, I was so anxious about what I was going to get. I had literally convinced myself I was going to get a 1, and I'm not exaggerating in the slightest, but when I got my score and found that I got a 4, my immediate reaction was to burst into tears, right there, in the middle of my kitchen.

I know that on College Confidential, many of you must be very accustomed to 5's left and right, and I know that tears of joy are rarely acceptable unless you're accepting a gold medal for your country, etc... but was my reaction really overboard?

No, not at all lol! I would cry to if I got a 4 on any AP exam. AP U.S. History isn’t an easy exam. Good Job~! Don’t let CC question your reaction lol, even though a lot of CCers get 5’s be proud of your score. ;)

I thought I had gotten a 1 on bio and a 4 on ap psych because I messed up on the FRQ big time, and my bio mc didn’t seem too hot either. I felt confident with my answers on APWH, but I started freaking out when I saw that only ~7% got a 5 so I thought I got a 4 on that too.

When I figured out my scores were all 5’s, I literally stared screaming really loud and frolicked across the room during the middle of breakfast and started singing random songs that were extremely off-tune. I just kept going OHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO for like, three hours after that and my mom and dad were eventually like “-_______-”

So yeah. It’s totally normal…
unless I’m just extremely weird. o___________O

It might have been a little overboard, but it doesn’t really matter, congrats on the 4!

Yeah, I was in kind of the same boat…my sophomore year I was expecting 5 on Calc AB and got a 5, so no big deal. But last year for Chem, I was predicting I’d get a 2 (since it’s such a harsh curve, and chemistry’s not my forte) but got a 3. I was pretty happy but not excited (since MIT doesn’t accept AP Chem, so the entire test is basically futile).

Again, congrats!

haha not really. I think CCers would actually be more likely to empathize with you since most of us consider scores so important. I took my 1st AP tests this year too, and I thought I hadn’t done well, but turns out I got a 5
yay for curves

and being normal is good because…? ;)

before i got to the last paragraph i had assumed the worst - that you were crying in defeat because you didn’t get a 5.

a 4 is great.

Yup! A 4 is a really good score!! Do you take AP world history in 11th grade then?

I’m not crazy emotional, but it is normal to feel relieved/overwhelmed/overjoyed when your hard work pays off :)

Yep, AP US History is the prerequisite (basically) to AP World History.

^ I can’t stand that song…
