Am I crazy to choose Tufts over Johns Hopkins and Georgetown. I plan on following a pre-med track. I'm choosing tufts because I like its "artsy" atmosphere, campus, academics. I know Johns Hopkins has a great pre-med program, but the atmosphere might be too intense for me. Tufts has as great pre-med program. I also would like to stay close to home so Johns Hopkins and Georgetown are too far for me. I applied EA to georgetown, but I don't really like it as much as tufts and don't think I'll fit in very well (plus the sciences there are weak)... I just really liked Tufts when I visited

You made a decision based on factors that are important to you...and it is a good, mature decision...It's more important what you think than the people on CC........Congratulations and good luck next year!!!

I think you made the right choice! Those are great reasons to pick a school.

In looking at a school it seems to me there are three considerations. One is finances, but that evidently isn't an issue. One is meeting your academic goals which it sounds like Tufts will do. The third is picking a home that suits you, and I think it is incredibly important. Tufts sounds like your home.

The difference in academic quality between these three institutions is negligible. You are focusing on the correct variables and making a reasoned decision. You will do better at the school at which you are most comfortable, which will also assist in admissions to medical school.

What a wonderful decision to have to make! Follow your heart in this instance. Go to Tufts.

You seem to want Tufts, so go to Tufts. You have a better chance of doing well there. JHU is probably too intense, IMO. I've heard Tufts has good pre-med, pre-dental, pre-pharmacy(I have 3 cousins went to Tufts for Pharmacy), etc..

You know, there are people who pick Tufts over all the Ivies too. It doesn't play D-I athletics, so it's not in the headlines as much as, say, Boston College. But as a career college administrator, I can tell you that Tufts is big-time and IMO, every bit the equal of Gtown and JHU.

Tufts is a very happy and active campus with strong awareness of global issues. The med students I know who graduated from Tufts are wonderful people and they great college years. Enjoy!

Is Tufts somehow perceived as "lesser" than JHU or Georgetown? If so, I definitely don't see that, out of the slices of students I know whom attend each school. They're all great schools, of course, but I would agree with you that Tufts has something that the others may not!
