Hi I'm new to this site but everyone seems to be really helpful so I was wondering what top tier colleges are expecting from my summer. I'm volunteering three days a week and coaching gymnastics and also attending math classes. I kinda want to do more but I'm not sure what I can do so tips would be appreciated. Btw I'm going into sophomore year.

Seems fine for a rising sophomore, but next year try gunning for an internship.maybe a fellowship

Do you have any suggestions for what I can apply for?

Well I don’t know where you live. Do you have ant career interests? Its fine you dont

I live in NYC and i’m leaning between law and research I know that’s really cliche but I actually do enjoy both fields.

Oh cool I live in queens. For research there are a lot of options. But you should first narrow it to a certain field I.e. plant pathology. There are programs out there usually offered by colleges. Read some articles t find a specific topic and email professors at local colleges if you could use their labs. Most will say no ( this is independent research). If you want a group research program just Google it I know storybook has one. And also with Google you could find some internships at law offices.

If you’re bothering to ask whether you’re doing enough, then you’re probably doing enough. As a rising sophomore, it seems like you’re doing very well.

Great! Thanks to both of you.
