Am I Doing Enough?

Well, this summer I'm basically going to be a non-paid 40 hour-a-week research assistant at a local U (possibly get to do actual research, possibly not. Depends on how hard I work between now and then) and will be volunteering at a local hospital for a projected 50-60 hours. What I'm basically wondering is: is there more I could be doing?

The reason really that I'm worried about this is because I basically did jack all of last summer, and I'm desperately trying to make up for that shortfall. So, any opinions, reassurnaces, recomendations, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

In what grade are you? If you are a freshman, you had a right to take last summer off. A sophomore could use some summer experience. A junior needs it, and yes, what you are doing is enough, for this one summer.

I think you'll be ok. A lot of people forget that summer is break, and break means relaxing. So, chill a little and do what you like. If that is what you like, do it, but don't worry if it's not enough or anything.

Sounds like you have a productive summer coming up. Just stick to this plan and you'll be fine.

I'm a soph right now, so I should have done something last summer, but didn't because I was stupid and waited till the last couple weeks of school till I realized "oh crud, I'm not doing anything this summer" and found out all the deadlines had passed or the programs I wanted to do were filled. <- Wow, that's a really run-on sentence

Same position here - soph and everything ;) Currently looking for internships, you're lucky to have caught one already. As for suggestions: depends on your financial status. Since the reseach position is non-paid, I'd suggest looking into a menial, sterotypical teenarger-job for spending cash (or saving for college or a car or what have you).
