Hey guys so here's my plan on tackling the cr section of the sats.

I'll write 30 vocab words each day. Then I'll make a short story using those 30 words! The thing is its pretty time-consuming and everybody keeps saying "just use the flash cards" or "use the cartoon thingy" because I do forget the words I've written! So, am I doing it right? Because just so you know, I got a 490 in my cr! (I know it's REALLY, REALLY BAD!!!! :( ) I'm working towards a 650-700! Is that even possible!? Please do help me! Any advice is greatly appreciated!

PS: how do you get a 12 in the sat essay? And a 650-700 in the sat writing section? Because I got a pretty score in that section too! Language aren't really my strengths! Bt I seem to be okay in the math section.

More of your score on CR comes from the passages then the vocab. Though you should be able to answer most of the vocab questions don’t focus all your time on them. Read books (they can be any books) and do practice tests focussing on the passages portion.

I do read but not that much! (i know i asked for it!) but isn’t it a little too late? I mean since I’m taking the sats this oct! I’m panicking right now!!! Did you sit for the sats already?

So I should just read and do the passages questions to improve my cr score? Thanks for the advice! Really appreciate it! :)))

Yes, reading was my highest section. Honestly I did not prep for CR, I attribute my score to my hobby of reading. Try and read a book every week between now and the test. Read both fiction and nonfiction, modern and classical. Discuss the books with friends or on online forms, it forces you to think more in-depth about the content you have read. The more you read the more you understand. That being said also do take CR practice tests to get used to the time and style of the questions.

Yes, agree with ArtsyGirl13. CR is the hardest to “prep” for, IMHO. The hobby of reading is by far the best preparation. And take some more practice tests.

For the writing section, it can be helpful to make a list of historical or literary references/situations you might call on as examples. And study for the grammar portion. However, most schools seem to weight CR more heavily than the writing score, so it is really better to put more time into your CR efforts.

Hey, get that SAT word shower curtain from Amazon.

Thank you guys! i really appreciate the advice! I’ve made a plan to read one book per week! so that’s a total of 8 books till my sat in oct! Is that okay? I know it sounds crazy but it can be and must be achieved if i want to score a 700, right? Thanks again! Btw should i scratch that 30 vocab story idea? haha

I will be honest… one book a week (eight books) is not going to get you to a 700 CR on the SAT from a 490. Or even a 650… it is a lifelong reading habit that gets you to a 700 or better, I think. One book a week is not “crazy” (I probably read on average 2 books per week, and I work full time and am a single parent). In addition to reading as much as you can, take several CR practice tests between now and then as well. Really try to understand why you missed the questions you have trouble with, too.
