Am I done for?

So my grades for this semester are as follows
B+ in AP US History
B+ in AP Chem
A in English
A in Latin
A in AP Physics I
A+ in Pre-cal

will good schools like ivies or duke/uc berkley dismiss my application because of those 2 B’s even if they are AP classes. Maybe dismiss isn’t the right word, how much will those B+'s hurt my application to aforementioned schools? Thanks

What grade are you in? Schools love upward trends, so that might help (unless you’re a junior?). Anyway, obviously they will hurt your application, but it isn’t like an automatic rejection or anything.

If your a sophomore it’s okay, if your a junior and your applying ED/EA to an Ivy it will probably hurt your chances a little (though since only half your classes this year are AP/Honors and you only have on A out of the three that could hurt a lot). You grades as a whole will reflect how much this hurts you. Are these your first Bs in HS? Are you generally a A student in AP/honors classes? Are you planning to apply majoring in one of the subjects you got a AB in? Things like that will affect how much it hurts you. Grades aren’t everything though so even worse case senerio don’t let it get to you. One thing alone won’t wreck you chances unless you’ve established some sort of significant continuous downward trend with theses grades. Relax, work on playing your strengths and you’ll do fine. Incidentally though I hope you have more than Ivy leagues on your college list and have a few decent backups because no one is garenteeded admission into any of them with even perfect grades.

It will hurt. If those are your only B’s, take very hard courses next year and you should be fine for Cal (non engineering). Also, if those are your only B’s, you could probably make Cornell/Brown/Dartmouth ED with a good application. Otherwise, unless you have a hook, make sure to apply a good amount of mid-range schools too (USC, UCSD, etc.) just in case.

Edit: A friend of mine made Dartmouth ED with 3 B’s (2 junior year) and a 35 with pretty good ECs and stellar essays.

What are your grades like in comparison to your peers? Context is important.

But people do get into top schools with the occasional B in high school.
