Am I doomed?

I’ve taken the SAT three times, and the ACT once. I suck at reading comprehension. Always have, always will. This happened:

October 2014
690CR/800M/650W/9E

January 2015
680CR/800M/730W/10E

September 2015 (ACT)
C-33
E-35
M-35
R-28
S-35

October 2015 (took just for superscore and of course I messed up)
660CR/770M/750W/11E

Highest Composite ACT: see above
Highest Composite SAT: Jan. 2015 2210
Superscore: 2240 (690CR/800M/750W/11E)

I think my score is really really weak. Especially since reading is literally trash every time. I study for hours on end but nothing makes a difference. My GPA is the weakest factor in my entire profile (3.75 UW/4.1 W) I just wanted to make this the best thing possible. Am I actually screwed for my colleges? I’m applying to places like the UCs, Rice, Cornell, HMC, Scripps, UMich, UT, and several other places, and I just wanted to know if my reading score will tank me in any way.

doomed?

@Suly99 In short, are my scores too low?

ask yourself is 2240 to low? i got 2000 and I’m extremely happy. Congratulations bro you are fine for nearly all colleges!!

For Cornell the average score is 2120.
25th percentile is 640 ®, 680 (M), 650 (W), comp (1970).
75th percentile is 740 ®, 780 (M), 750 (W), comp (2270)
So you are above average for Cornell, but their average gpa is 4.01.

Rice: average score is 2108
25th percentile: 670 ®, 700 (M), 760 (W), comp (2040)
75th percentile: 760 ®, 790 (M), 770 (W), comp (2320)
Average gpa: 4.08
So you are about in the 50th percentile for Rice, however again your gpa.

HMC: average score is 2070-2320 for SAT, average ACT is 32-35, average gpa is 3.9-4.0
Your in 50th percentile for both test scores.

Scripps average score is 29+ ACT, and 2072 for SAT, gpa is 4.13+.
Your test scores good for Scripps so I think you’ll have a chance.

UMich average score is 30-34 ACT, 2040-2280 for SAT.

You still have a shot here too.

UT average score is 1874 for in-state and 2000 for out of state. 28 in state and 30 out of state.
Either way you should be a great applicant.

Because your gpa is low for all of these schools, I suggest writting superb essays with outstanding recommendations. And maybe looking into a tedt prep tutor, The Princeton Review has one-on-one sessions and tutoring sessions if interested. However, it is expensive, but just a suggestion. Anyway Good Luck applying!!

Not sure what the problem is - those scores look fine - 2200+ SAT and a 33 (?) ACT composite. A lot of students would be over the moon with those scores. I’d focus on the other elements of your applications and stop worrying.

Your scores are fine! 2200+/33+ is a solid score.

Bumping this. Got an 800 on my SAT 2 Chem (from 770 Jun 2014), and another 770 (from 770 Jun 2015) in Math 2. Is my math 2 score going to sink me?

tbh once you’re above 2200 your SAT doesn’t matter at all, unless it’s perfect a higher score probably won’t help you much as long as everything else on your application is good
