I'm applying ED 2, so although Emory wasn't my first choice two months ago, it is now. I know how much demonstrated interest matters to Emory. I've talked to counselors, friends, gone to college fair/local reception/HS visit and of course used the website/DVD. However, I haven't gotten a chance to visit yet...I was planning on going this week but the tours stop on Wednesday and I physically can't make it down there in time (huge snow storm on the east coast...airline tickets too expensive/parents can't afford to take off work to drive me). Will this, to put it un-eloquently, screw me over? Sorry if I come off as too neurotic...but from what I gather people from all around the US have made a trip to visit the campus, and even though I live comparatively closer, I haven't ><

You should be fine. It seems like you’ve done pretty much everything else to show that you are interested in Emory (in addition to applying EDII…) so I don’t see a lack of a physical visit as being that important.

Is this serious?

If it is, I can’t help but think you are drastically over thinking the situation. I didn’t visit a single college, Emory included, if that helps. The only time I visited Emory was over the summer.

They can’t knock someone down for not being able to physically visit. That’s a disadvantage for the lower-income students.

As long as you have done other things, you’ll be fine.
