Am I eating too much?

I'm like 16(guy), and I dunno...I think I'm eating a lot. Am I?

So, I like ate a semi-full breakfast, and a banana.

And About 2 hrs later, I ate a banana, chewy bar, and 1/2 an apple.

then, 1 1/2 hrs late, I ate a good amount of pasta(enough to make me full, unless I had bloat), and then 1/2 an apple.

I drank like almost 1 liter of water during that period also, so I wasn't dehydrated or anything. Then, just 1 1/2 hrs later, I was really hungry and tired, and ate poptarts(which have like 600 calories), and 1 1/2 hrs later, I was sorta hungry.

Is there anything wrong?

well, you could have e very high metabolism, and you dont necessarily eat bad stuff (maybe nix the poptarts).
but the question here is are you really hungry when you eat. eat slowly (your body will respond better and tell you whether you're really hungry or not). also, if you suddenly start gaining lots of wieght, that might be an indicator.

You sure eat alot of fruit and you should note your sugar intake as well. The last time I ate an apple was probably a year ago. Hence the following statement "an apple a day keeps the doctor away."

Your diet sucks. Processed crap, no whole foods to speak off, no protein or fats, etc etc etc.

There's nothing wrong with the time intervals you're eating in, if that's what you're wondering. It's actually good to consume "mini-meals" periodically throughout the day to keep your metabolism going. What you should be concerned about, however, is your caloric intake. Now, I'm not familiar with your body composition, but if you're looking to shed some weight, I recommend cutting out the chewy bars and poptarts. Very little nutritional value; very high in calories - "empty calories." Replace the bars and pastries with a slice of wheat toast and cheese instead. When in doubt, stay away from the simple sugars and go for the complex carbs (wheat bread, brown rice, etc.) You're at a time period in your life where you NEED to eat a lot. You're a growing, developing individual and without the adequate nutrition you're not going to be physically, emotionally, and mentally healthy. Continue eating in 2-3 hour intervals, but pay attention to what goes into your body.

is this a general question or have you had a sudden change in hunger/diet? If you always eat like this, it's probably fine. Everybody's different. If you're generally healthy and not overweight and this is typical for you, I wouldn't be concerned.
I mean, I'm a petite female and I eat more & more often than that.

just eat, it tastes it and you should be eating alot. your 16, nothing too bad can come from it that hasnt happened already

eat cause youre hungry and not for the taste. thats basically it.

Umm... I wouldn't be too worried. Sure, you could substitute some complex carbs for that poptart, but I eat more than that. My day:

Oatmeal for breakfast
Life cereal (snack)
Two energy bars
Banana
Goldfish
Pretzels
Orange
Sandwich
Cookies (during lunch and for a snack after a school)
...and I still have dinner.

I just have a high metabolism and I'm constantly hungry. I'm not obese or unhealthy at all- I run XC and I've always been a kind-of scrawny kid =) That's just how I am... and if you're this way, too, stop worrying. When you're hungry, eat!

How funny, I just read an article about teenage eating habits.

You are perfectly normal.

Just don't eat any hash brownies and you should be fine.

^well that's lame

i love mallomar cookies

Anyone here eat ANY protein and fat at all?

um, a tip i live by when it comes to food is if you feel like you're eating too much or if you feel like a pig, you probably are.. and you shouldn't be eating all that food.

but it didnt sound like you had like meals, but more snacks sooo idk. im noO nutritionist
: )

I think it depends on your size. If you are really thin, then it really doesn't matter since it sounds like you are eating relatively healthy foods. If you are overweight and trying to lose weight, however, I recommend maybe not snacking so much. Some say it is best to eat in many intervals during the day, but if you are doing this then I think you need to really monitor what you are taking in because a lot of people lose weight once they stop snacking on junk food (which apples are certainly healthy so it just depends on what you are eating). Sometimes people don't realize how much they actually eat without thinking. If you want foods that are filling and have lots of nutrients, I would recommend eating nuts. Instead of snacking on foods that don't fill you up but just add unnecessary calories to your diet, eat a slice of bread with peanut butter. Or maybe eat a slice of cheese or turkey. It's better to eat that than tons of unneccessary carbs throughout the day. Wheat bran cereal is really good for you, but make sure to eat it with milk since otherwise you will just be eating carbs. There are plenty of healthy snack bars out there...like slim fast bars, etc. Some tend to be loaded with sugar and calories, so I suppose just look at the box. Slim fast shakes are also really good for you and filling. I used to drink them with meals to gain weight in a healthy way, but now that my metabolism has slowed down they are a healthy snack.

Also, make sure that you are eating plenty of meat. You need protein in your diet and meat tends to be more filling.

I'm eating more than you, but I also weigh more than average person.
Why make it complicated? You're hungry -- you eat. You're not hungry -- you don't eat. Don't eat junk food or drink sodas. Want to drop/gain weight -- exercise that or this, your appetite transforms very much with physical activities.

no. and the people who say "watch that chewy bar and those pop tarts" are being ridiculous. who can honestly say that one chewy bar and a couple of pop tarts during the course of a DAY is deathly unhealthy?
