I have a highschool GPA of 2.44 my sat with just the math and critical reading is 840 and my ACt composite score is a 19. I'm really worried because I really want to get into this school but don't think I can get in.

Calculate your CSU GPA: <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;
Then calculate your Eligibility index:
(CSU GPA X800) + (SAT M+CR) OR (CSU GPA X200) + (ACT COMPX10)

According to CSU EI chart, you need an ACT score of 22 or SAT around 980 to qualify based on your GPA.
Minimum for any CSU is 2900 EI. <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

Threshold EI for Chico State is around 3700 SAT/800 ACT but will vary upon applicant pool.

If you look at the common dataset for Chico State, they only accepted 2% applicants with your GPA and ACT/SAT score. With your scores and GPA, it looks like you would not do well in a 4 year college setting, so I would suggest you start at a CC for 2 years and then transfer.

Not quite enough info to know for sure but, base on what you’ve reported above, it is really unlikely you’ll get into Chico or any of the CSUs straight from high school.

I agree with @gumbymom, your HS performance suggests you probably aren’t ready for a 4 year school. In order to succeed in college, you’ll need to build some new skills and habits. College is a great opportunity for a truly fresh start. - new campus, new friends, a whole new course. Make the most of it…

A CC is your best route to Chico - or any other CSU.

Good luck

Although my GPA is low I have tooken about 3 college classes on a real college campus do you think chico will take that into consideration I’ve done good in these college classes

Courses taken at a CC while in high school can impact your GPA. They probably won’t be sufficient to bring you 2.4 up to a 3.3-3.5 which you’d need to get in at Chico.
Your ‘Local’ CSU on a non-impacted campus (Monterrey, Channel Islands, etc) might accept you because they just might put you over that 2900 threshold.
Good luck.

Additionally, you may want to take some CC classes to work on some of your spelling and grammar skills. At the universities, you will be required to pass some general education classes and writing words like: “tooken” instead of “taken”, wont help you get into the Cal States.

My cousins go to chico and say they are pretty sure I will get in but I don’t want to have my hopes high.
