Both of the teachers writing my recommendations were able to submit their recommendation letters through Naviance. However, I found the link to evaluation A on the My MIT page. Is this supposed to be mailed in seperately? Also, the evaluation A that I found on the My MIT page is different from this one: http://web.mit.edu/admissions/pdf/MITevalA.pdf. Can someone help me out here? I don't want to be at a disadvantage because my teacher's weren't aware of the key points to address in the evaluation letter when they wrote it.

Thanks!

Recommendations can be submitted either via Naviance or via postal mail. There’s no need to mail a recommendation if it’s already been submitted by Naviance.

The version of the recommendation forms on MyMIT is the latest version of the forms. You certainly don’t need to have your teachers re-submit with the latest version, unless you want to.

EDIT: And, I should say, if you want to have them fill out the form and mail it in (or submit it via Naviance) in addition to the letter, that’s also fine. Whatever works for you and your teachers.

I’m in a similar situation, and my counselor has never worked with someone applying to MIT before.

We use Naviance. Does this mean that the Naviance recommendations replace the entire Evaluation A & B forms, including the second page with the boxes? Or do we still have to fax/mail the second page in addition to sending the actual letters online?

Also, if our school has its own secondary school report, can my counselor send that instead of MIT’s (from the myMIT page)?

Thanks in advance.

Teachers (or schools) are welcome to use their own forms for letters to MIT. The admissions office just asks that, if a teacher chooses not to use the page with the boxes, that he/she address those points within the letter.

I assume the same would be true of the secondary school report – as long as it includes all the information MIT asks for, it’s fine to use the school’s own form.
