I recently got my SAT Question and Answer Service form, in which they tell me what I did and did not get right. Unfortunately there is this one puzzling question that I don’t get how I got wrong. Please help!!!
The first term of a sequence is 1/4 and the second term is 2. Each term after the second term is the product of the two immediately preceding term. What is the seventh term of the sequence?
The service says the correct answer is 1/2 but I got 1/4.
I got 1/4 too. Are you sure you read the question correctly?
It is 1/4, assuming you typed the question correctly.
Wait, that’s odd, I got 1/2. So, based on the way you typed it, assuming I read it correctly, if the first two numbers are 1/4 and 2, then the next number is (1/4)*2 = 1/2. The fourth number would then be 1. The fifth would be 1/2. The 6th would be 1. And finally the seventh would be 1/2. At least that’s how I interpreted the question.
My reasoning is
1: 1/4
2: 2
3: 1/2
4: 1
5: 1/2
6: 1/2
7: 1/4
@Thatuser the 6th term is 1 * 1/2 = 1/2.
Oh, you’re right!!! Sorry, please disregard my above post. That’s really weird then, that the collegeboard would have an incorrect answer on its Student Answer service!
It should be 1/4:
A- .25
B- 2
C- (.25 * 2) = .5
D- (2 * .5) = 1
E- (.5 * 1) = .5
F- (1 * .5) = .5
G- (.5 x .5) = .25
Wait, they tell you the questions you get wrong? And the actual question?? Where can I find this for my SAT?
@archlion You would have to purchase the service when purchasing your ticket
@Briahenson123 I did purchase it, it was like $16 right? I bought everything they offered when I signed up. But it only tells me which category and the difficulty of the question I missed. It doesn’t give me the actual question so I can see what I did wrong.
