okay I got in ED to Johns Hopkins. Im happy..hip hip hurray.
I am a URM with a 1950 SAT and A LOT of ECs---nationally recognized for my writing ability.
I chose Hopkins be/c they offer amazing research oppurtunities...even for those outside of the science/math discipline.
I am also interested in the 5 year BA/MA with JHU SAIS...the tippity top international studies masters.
Okay enough of that.

My problem: I am basically the TOP student in my poor district....yea even with a 1950 SAT. (I think there is one new Indian kid with a 2230). People are constantly criticizing my decision not to apply to Harvard, Yale, Princeton....now I just learned that other kids in my district (an asian with a 1870 and a hispanic with a 1700-something) are applying to harvard, yale, columbia, princeton, etc. I dont know why but i am so UPSET. If they apply and get in with their lower scores and less-meaningful ECs..I would feel weird. oO...now I regret applying ED to Hopkins be.c I could have competed with them for HYP. I feel sick to my stomach sometimes when i think about it oO

What's wrong with me? someone help! i feel like crap!

Johns Hopkins is a great school! And some disciplines consider it on the same level as HYP.

Remember that the name doesn’t matter, dot he research you’ve looked forward to doing, and enjoy your 4 years in college, get good grades and come out with a fantastic job or a great grad school opportunity!

You have a problem: you’re letting what other people say affect you. Don’t let that happen. Are you happy about getting into JH? GOOD! You’re going to a fantastic school! Congratulations! When you choose to apply to a school as good as JH, and then you apply early decision, you obviously have already thought about Harvard, Yale, and other schools. And yet you still made the decision to go to a different top-tier university. You’re getting caught up in the name game…the valedictorian at my school last year went to UNH, our state school. I might too, and I’m in the top 10% and got a 2110 on my SATs. I will have a lot of money to save for investments if I go to UNH, plus other benefits (Honors College), so that’s why I will most likely go there. You HAVE to go to JH (ED), and since you seem to be happy with yourself in choosing it, don’t let what other people say let you down. If you got into Harvard/Yale/etc, would you rather go there? I’m guessing not, because you applied to JH. If it’s just the letter of acceptance…well, you need help haha

who cares if you could have gotten in, you’re going to be happy at johns hopkins!

The best part is that you’ll never know, so you don’t have to worry about it. Be happy that you’re going to such a prestigious university next year!

Dude, **** da haters. You’re going to JOHN HOPKINS. Me? I would kill to get into UNC-Chapel Hill OOS. You’ve got it made, and once you’re in JH, you won’t have to deal with those mutha****as ever again, until HS reunion, where you can flash your trophy wife, lambo, diamond grillz, and JH Diploma, all in one go. Ok, I’m exaggerating, but you know what I mean

okay okay lol
im calming down a bit inside. Ever since December 15, somedays i’ve been extremely angry about it…other days extremely happy.
I think I’ve problems -_-

Haha sorry. So yah, you’ll be graduating with a diploma from Johns Hopkins, and then (possibly) getting your grad degree somewhere else…you’re fine. Haha, and if you even think about being sad one more time…just remember that you HAVE to go to Johnny Hops haha jus’ kidding that probs won’t help

Just because they are applying does not mean they will get in.

By the way, the psychologists who study negotiating and decision making have a name for the emotion you are feeling–reactive devaluation. Once someone accepts your offer (i.e., admits you), you revalue your candidacy and think you could have done better.

Chill, and be proud of your accomplishment.

updatee! lol
I spent all that time worrying about nothing be/c I got into the highest ranked school out of all students in my district this year.
there was an ivy league shut down! tough this year.
