Am I going in the right direction?

<p>Hey guys! I'm currently a junior in high school -- that means its probably time for me to start thinking about college. Here are some schools I'm interested in:</p>

<p>UC Berkley
UCLA
UW
Seattle Pacific
UMich-Ann Arbor
CMU
Stanford
CalTech
MIT
Princeton</p>

<p>The bottom are obviously "reaches" for almost everybody, but I want to know if I have a chance of contending. Stanford is my #1 choice btw.</p>

<p>I want you guys to chance me and maybe give me some criticism on things I could improve on.</p>

<p>*The following information is "so far," but I want to know if I'm on the right track. </p>

<p>BASIC:
-Male
-Asian
-~100k income per year from both parents (so 200k total)</p>

<p>STATS:
-Go to a good public high school with around 500 students per class
-GPA: 4.0 UW ~4.5 W (I've assumed my grades will remain A's for the rest of<br>
the year.)
-SAT: 2190 (750 CR 800 M 640 W) 1st try, 227 PSAT
-SATII: WH 800 (Plan to take BioM and MathII soon, aiming for upper 700s)
-AP Scores: World History 5 (Plan to take Composition, Calc AB, USHist, Comp
Sci, and Chem. Probably going to get all 4s and 5s)</p>

<p>XTRACURRICULAR:
-Robotics(9-11): Did well the past two years earning several awards and
gained state, national, and world competition bids. Currently on
the student council and captain this year and last year.
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll do well this year due to the fact
that my old teammates went to another school and started<br>
their own club. My new team sucks and aren't really interested
in learning robots but what sucks more is when the club takes<br>
pity.</p>

<p>-Debate (10-11): Currently treasurer and probably going to be president next<br>
year. Have variety of awards in various (novice) events from<br>
last year due to me trying to find my favorite event. Didn't<br>
qualify for any big tourney's last year due to this, but this year
me and my partner are already set for state. Don't hate
debate!</p>

<p>-Model UN(10-11): Currently PR and probably going to be president next year.
We don't go to many conferences and what-nots but I did get
a gavel at the only one we went to. We meet afterschool and<br>
discuss current events in the world. Going to go to 2 events<br>
this year maybe.</p>

<p>-Science Olympiad(10-11): We're a bit of a joke actually and the club is in<br>
shambles this year due to a variety of reasons. Kind
of sucks that entire teams move up to state and not
individuals because half the club is kind of dead
weight.</p>

<p>-Band,Symphony(9,11): Play the most beautiful instruments of all in the school<br>
band and symphony. The symphony is really good and
has played in places like Disneyland and Carnegie Hall.
Also, couldn't do either in 10th grade because I broke<br>
my arm for half the year and had scheduling conflicts
the other half. It kind of sucks not playing at Carnegie '<br>
Hall :(.</p>

<p>VOLUNTEERING:
Uh, ~10 hours of tutoring and ~5 hours of conservation work? :)</p>

<p>SUMMER:
Took prereqs for AP Chem. over the summer (9th)
Driver's Ed. (10th)
Paid internship/camp learning about bio-med field (10th)</p>

<p>Thanks!</p>

<p>UC Berkley- high match
UCLA-match
UW-match
Seattle Pacific-match
UMich-Ann Arbor -match
CMU- high match
Stanford- reach
CalTech- reach
MIT- reach
Princeton- reach</p>

<p>The last four are reaches for everyone, but I think you still have a very good shot at all of them. Your EC’s and scores are very impressive!!</p>
